I am a wedding photojournalist and lifestyle photographer.  My focus is telling a story through a collection of images – the story of a wedding or event or the story of a person or family.

MISSION STATEMENT: To create photographic art for families that captures the tender moments of their journey, creates art from life, and enables me to support my family doing something I love.

My work has been described as natural, emotional, and real.  I want my images to authentically represent people and moments.  I want to capture the beauty that exists within all people.  And the connections I form with people during this process are priceless to me.  People are truly the art and I simply have the opportunity to write their story with light.

Beyond the creation of the images, I work with each family to create art from their images that will become something they can pass down to their children.  Choosing how to use a collection of images can be an overwhelming process.  My goal is that these photographs spend years being viewed and appreciated in your home or office rather than stored away with the best of intentions.

Creating art is an investment, so we begin by talking about your budget and choosing something that will fit within it.  Fine art books are a wonderful way to tell a story with a large collection of images.  Wall and easel collections are wonderful ways to start with something simple and expand it each year.  Large individual pieces of artwork feature an entire story captured within just one image.

Weddings are a passion of mine.  I limit the number of weddings I accept because I want to give my all to each one.  As a wedding photojournalist, I am one of the few people who is there with the bride throughout her entire day.  My goal is to allow people to relax and be themselves.  This creates an environment where people reveal their true hearts and I am able to step back and capture them without invading.

I have been photographing weddings and families for more than 15 years.  Late in 2008 while my four children were still young, I unexpectedly made a choice to begin to pursuing work as a full-time professional photographer.  This was a significant transition.  There are many wonderful photographers, but making the commitment to working as a full-time professional requires a significant investment in professional equipment and ongoing education as well as a passion for art and a willingness to constantly renew and refine your style.

Moving to a studio in early 2010, I have been able to create a gallery of my work and have a central location for meeting with clients before and after their sessions and events.  In my studio, you can view your images on a movie screen and feel samples of the many things that go into creating photographic art.  And while I still photograph many clients on location, my studio provides an alternative look for portrait sessions and is ideal for certain types of photography and seasons of the year.  In addition to weddings and family portraits, my work includes senior portraits, pet portraits, maternity photos, newborn sessions, engagement photographs, business portraits, political and business events, and a variety of other photographic services that families need.

This will always be a learning process, and as an artist I have to allow my work to evolve and grow if I want it to have an impact. But I am fortunate to work at something I love and to create art that captures our most precious memories.
